Dunedin International Airport (IATA: DUD, officially Taunga Rererangi o Ōtepoti) is the primary air gateway for Dunedin and the wider Otago–Southland region, located in Momona on the Taieri Plains about 22 km southwest of the Dunedin CBD. Built in 1962, it is jointly owned by the Dunedin City Council and the New Zealand Government, and today ranks as New Zealand’s fifth‑busiest airport, handling 903,396 passengers in 2024. The airport has a single 1,900‑m asphalt runway (03/21) rated for aircraft up to the Boeing 767, supported by ILS in both directions and a compact terminal with five gates, two airbridges, and full customs facilities for international flights. Mainland Air operates flight‑training and charter services from an adjacent hangar. Recent developments include a first‑floor terminal redevelopment featuring new dining spaces, lounges, and Kāi Tahu cultural storytelling, as well as recognition for global airport safety leadership in 2026.
