Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminals.
After you go through security turn right and
go outside through the double doors past the toilets. Here you will
find Luigi's cafe with plenty of tables and chairs to sit and watch
planes arriving and departing. You can smoke anywhere here. Safe
journeys! ;)
Banjul International Airport, also known as Yundum International (IATA: BJL, ICAO: GBYD), serves as the international gateway to the capital of The Gambia, Banjul. This airport, built during World War II, plays a crucial role in connecting The Gambia to the world. Located approximately 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) southwest of the town of Entebbe, it rests on the northern shores of Lake Victoria. The airport’s strategic position near the equator—often referred to as the “Airport on the Equator”—adds to its uniqueness. Elevated at 3,782 feet (1,153 meters) above sea level, Entebbe International Airport stands as part of a peninsula bordering Africa’s largest freshwater lake. Its history dates back to the British colonial era, and it played a significant role during the famous Operation Entebbe hostage rescue in 1976. The airport’s modern facilities cater to international travelers, connecting The Gambia to destinations worldwide.
