Gambia has strict laws against vaping, including a ban on the sale, possession, and importation of e-cigarettes
Gambia enforces a full national ban on vaping, making it illegal to manufacture, import, distribute, sell, or even possess e-cigarettes under the Tobacco Control Act 2016, Sec. 16(2). Authorities treat all electronic nicotine and non nicotine devices as prohibited products, and the Ministry of Health has publicly reaffirmed that every form of electronic cigarette is completely banned.
Violations carry criminal penalties, including fines of 1,000-2,500 dalasis and up to three months in prison, or both, depending on the severity of the offense. While the law does not explicitly restrict use in indoor public places meaning vaping is technically allowed in those spaces the ban on possession makes practical use legally risky. Overall, Gambia is one of Africa's most uncompromising anti-vaping jurisdictions, with strict enforcement at borders and within the country.
