Kutaisi International Airport (IATA: KUT) is Georgia’s second-busiest airport and a key hub for low-cost travel in the Caucasus region.

Located about 14 kilometers west of Kutaisi, the airport opened in 1955 and was extensively modernized in 2012, when it was relaunched as a base for budget airlines, most notably Wizz Air, which made it a major gateway for affordable flights to Europe. The airport is named after David the Builder, one of Georgia’s most revered medieval kings, and features a 2,500-meter runway capable of handling large aircraft. In recent years, Kutaisi International has grown rapidly, welcoming millions of passengers annually and offering connections to destinations such as Warsaw, Berlin, Milan, and Barcelona, alongside seasonal charter flights. Its strategic location makes it an important entry point for travelers exploring western Georgia, including attractions like the Gelati Monastery and the Caucasus Mountains, while also easing access to the Black Sea resorts of Batumi.
