Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport is Slovenia’s second-largest international airport, located near the city of Maribor in the Styria region.

Opened in 1976, the airport was named after Edvard Rusjan, a pioneering Slovenian aviator. It lies about 12 km south of Maribor and features a main asphalt runway measuring 2,500 meters, alongside a smaller grass runway. Although it once handled regular scheduled flights, today it primarily serves charter services, cargo operations, and aircraft maintenance and storage, with companies like Aero4M providing line maintenance for ATR, Embraer, CRJ, and Airbus A320 family aircraft. In 2022, the airport processed around 3,900 passengers, reflecting its reduced role compared to Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, but it remains strategically important as Slovenia’s second busiest airport and a hub for flight training and aviation services. Its facilities include a single terminal, seasonal operating hours, and competitive parking and storage options for aircraft, making it a versatile aviation center despite limited commercial traffic
