Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport is Slovenia’s main international gateway, located near the village of Zgornji Brnik, about 24 kilometers northwest of Ljubljana.

Opened in 1963, the airport was originally known as Brnik Airport before being renamed in honor of Jože Pučnik, a Slovenian politician and dissident. It is operated by Fraport Slovenia d.o.o. and serves as the country’s busiest airport, handling over 1.4 million passengers in 2024 along with more than 25,000 aircraft movements. The airport features a single asphalt runway measuring 3,300 meters, capable of accommodating large international aircraft. It connects Slovenia to major European hubs such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Istanbul, while also offering seasonal routes to destinations like Gran Canaria and Bangkok. Beyond passenger services, Ljubljana Airport plays a vital role in cargo transport, moving over 12,000 metric tons annually, and continues to expand its network to strengthen Slovenia’s global connectivity
