Opened in 2014 to replace the old Doha airport, it was designed for seamless luxury, efficiency, and massive capacity, serving as the primary hub for Qatar Airways. The airport features a striking, modern architectural style with vast open spaces, high ceilings, and art installations such as the iconic Lamp Bear sculpture. Its facilities include a 600,000‑square‑meter terminal, state‑of‑the‑art lounges, a hotel, a swimming pool, and some of the most sophisticated security and baggage‑handling systems globally. Consistently ranked among the best airports worldwide, Hamad International continues to expand, supporting Qatar’s ambition to remain a major global aviation crossroads.
