Punta del Este International Airport (PDP), officially Capitán de Corbeta Carlos A. Curbelo International Airport, serves as Uruguay’s second‑busiest air gateway and the primary aviation hub for the resort city of Punta del Este. Located in Piriápolis, about 14–20 km northwest of Punta del Este, the airport handles both civil and military operations, including the Uruguayan Navy’s main aviation base. Its modern terminal—designed by architect Carlos Ott and inaugurated in 1997—supports regular and seasonal flights from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Chile, with traffic peaking during the Southern Hemisphere summer. PDP features two asphalt runways (2,130 m and 1,606 m), operates 24 hours, and offers amenities such as an information desk, accessibility facilities, and on‑site parking. It processed 165,960 passengers in 2018, reflecting its role as a key entry point for regional tourism.
