Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminals.
Update from ericll75, March 2023: There is a smoking booth right outside the entrance to Sky City, where the airport Radisson Hotel is located, in-between terminals 4 and 5. This is before security, next to where cars drop off departing passengers.

There are several smoking facilities inside the terminal after security. They are:
On the entrance floor, after Security, By the
stairs, go up to O'Leary's restaurant
Entrance A, beside the Runestone on level 3
Upstairs at 'Himmel & Bar' smoking cabins, picture below, provided by Michael F. on the 17th March 2017.
In ARN terminal 4 you can smoke in lower
level of gate 30. Just before the transfer bus terminal. Go stairs
down from gate 30.

Update from Seggiolino, June 2022: Nice booth (about 4 people) at gate F26, close to "Uncorked bar".
Update from RK, May 2022: Tiny booth with capacity of 4 (3 can barely fit) between gates F30 and F31.

Smoking outside Terminal 5 at ARN has been noticeable limited recently. It’s now only allowed in some very few smoking rooms while non-smoking-signs were painted on the floor at all other areas. Update from Holger, 14th July 2019.
