Smoking before security is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminals.
Update from Rene, Oct 2021: Three smoking areas ("teras") in total: Left and right of the security checkpoint (near gates 236 and 238 respectively - both have a cafe with snacks inside the terrace area); plus the one mentioned on the CIP floor (next to the CIP security checkpoint and opposite the lounges

Also one more smoking area (courtyard) located opposite of
Turkish Airlines CIP Lounge. (Accessible only for Turkish airlines’
business class passengers, and Star Alliance gold members)
Update from Claire, June 2022: There is at least one smoking area, it is opposite gate 233 behind Cakes and Bakes. Its pretty much just a glass box but good enough.

There are no smoking areas. It is forbidden to smoke inside the terminal building.
