Before Security Smoking

Update from Anja, November 2022: Smoking is tolerated around the bus stop for the S1 bus to Khaosan on the liwest level.

Update from Anja, October 2022: On the ground floor at entrance 8 (where the buses start) is a pedestrian way over the road to the parking facility. Follow it across the road and you find a smoking area on the right next to the entrance of the parking lot.

bkk smoking

Update from Gilbert, October 2022: Landside, smoking corner exists on the very end of the curb near door 1 (on the other end of the building near door 10). There are ashtrays, but this seems to be a "tolerated" situation more than anything else (no "official" signs). FWIW airport guard staff point paasengers there who wish to smoke.

After Security Smoking

Update from Darren, Aug 2022: Smoking area at the very end of the outside departures concourse - outside GATE/DOOR entrance number 10.
Dont know about the other end of the concourse?

Definintely ALL smoking rooms after clearing security are gone

Tip from Kate S, Nov 2019: You can only buy cigarettes landside on the ground floor near gate 8. You have to walk to the end of the taxi ranks to a mini mart. The entrance is on the outside of the building. It took Kate 30 minutes to find this place.

Note: Tip from Ivan H., Sept 2019: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK: If you ask the cleaning staff nicely, while they are cleaning a toilet, you are maybe permitted to smoke inside the toilet. Try to find a toilet which is a little bit off from the main course, so not every passenger will see.

WARNING: As of February 3rd 2019 Suvanarbhumi Airport has became a smoke-free zone.  Which means it is illegal to smoke near any place in or outside the airport. Update from Korakot on the 2nd Feb 2019.

All smoking rooms inside airport are closed. Smoking is permitted only outside airport at designed areas level 1, 2 and 4. Update from Paolo L. Feb 2019.

UPDATE: There is an improvised smoking area between exits 7 and 8 now.  This is before immigration and security so still useless mostly. Update from Ben.
