Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is Taiwan’s largest and busiest airport, serving as the primary international gateway for Taipei and northern Taiwan. Located in Dayuan District about 40 km west of central Taipei, it opened in 1979 as Chiang Kai‑shek International Airport and was renamed in 2006. The airport operates two long runways and two major passenger terminals—both modern, spacious, and connected by a free Skytrain—supporting major carriers such as China Airlines, EVA Air, Starlux Airlines, and FedEx Express. In 2025, it handled 47.8 million passengers, underscoring its role as a major hub for travel across Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. Known for efficient operations, multilingual signage, and strong transport links including the Airport MRT, Taoyuan Airport continues to expand with projects like the upcoming Terminal 3 to enhance capacity and passenger experience.
