Update from Sebastien on the 9th Sept 2018: There is a smoking area upstairs from Costa Cafe.

Feedback from Stacey on the 19th November 2017: Just wanted to confirm that there is smoking areas at the Pearl and Dasam Lounges that you mentioned. Just traveled through there on November 2017. I did not see any small glass smoking rooms within the terminal. But did see a VERY small one in immigration and customs while coming into the country.

There are some glass smoking rooms available also.

Kuwait International Airport (KWI) is the country’s primary aviation gateway, located in the Farwaniya Governorate about 15.5 km south of Kuwait City. It spans 37.7 km² and serves as a major hub for Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways. As of 2025, it ranks as the 12th‑busiest airport in the Middle East, handling over 15.6 million passengers in 2023. The airport features multiple runways—including a newly inaugurated 4.58 km third runway, one of the longest in the world—which significantly boosts operational capacity and air‑traffic safety. A new state‑of‑the‑art air traffic control tower, equipped with advanced navigational systems capable of managing more than 600,000 aircraft movements annually, further modernizes operations. These upgrades form part of Kuwait’s broader Vision 2035 strategy, which includes the construction of the massive Terminal 2, designed to eventually handle up to 50 million passengers per year.
