IMPORTANT UPDATE, 7th July 2019 from
Ratherbeonatrain: Atlanta City Council passed a
total smoking ban, to take effect on January 2, 2020. Starting
then, smokers will have to exit security before being able to light
up. Here's an article about it in the Atlanta newspaper:
Update from Dianne N : C40 is confirmed. All ALT smoking
areas are pretty gross...except E terminal. I highly recommend
E Terminal smoking areas for those that need to work and don't want
to smell like an ashtray boarding their next flight. Great
ventilation. Tables to sit at and TV monitors

I was there on May 26th and can confirm the TAP bar at A1. And yes, purchase is required.
Was there again on the 30th July 2018. It's a
great option if you're willing to purchase something. Really
friendly and good smoke filters.

Update from Tony on the 13th June 2018: Terrapin bar used to be
smoking throughout but is now restricted to a small room in the
back. You can no longer smoke at the bar which ruined the only good
thing about it. It's now no better than all the other crappy smoking
rooms throughout ATL.
Unconfirmed update from Al on the 1st April 2018: A3 no Lounge,
A1 has TAP bar, purchase required. Nearest without purchase is B22

Concourse B:
Update from Davis W. on the 6th Jan 2019: Smoking area near B23/24 is open, but zero ventilation and entire sections of benches/chairs are broken.

area at gate B9 as of 12/14/2018 is open again Great

Update from Sarah T. on the 24th July 2018, Spencer O. on the 27th
and Russell on the 30th: Smoking lounge in B 7/9, appears to be
closed. Sign on the door suggested to use B24. No indication if this
is temporary or permanent.
Gates 7 and 24 smoking rooms are still active. Feedback from Steve H. on the 11th March 2018.
Just confirmed the B concourse still has a
smoking area in between gates 7/9.

Update from Kive, Oct 2019: ATL Terminal C
got re-numbered. C26 smoking lounge is in the same location across
from Buckhead Books, but is now between C36 and C40.
Concourse C Update: Gates 17 and 40.
They took half of the one by Gate 17 and made it a place for dogs to
pee, so this smoking room is very tiny with no ventilation. Gate 40
is much better.

From Lehr 9th Oct 2016: Seems two smoking lounges have been closed here, although there is still smoking areas available near Gates 16 and 26.

Concourse D:
Update from David W on the 12th Jan 2019: D Concourse Terrapin Tap bar smoking room in the back corner is open early AM for breakfast. Purchase is required, but a cup of coffee counts as a purchase.

smoking in Atlanta. Terminal D has smoking at the Terrapin Tapestry
House. Great bar tender and good craft beers!

Update from Greg 8th May 2019: Smoking area is still by E9. It's just very well hidden next to the news stand.
Update from Nate: The smoking room across from E9 is open as of 4/29/19.
Update from Dan on the 23rd Feb 2019: No
longer smoking area near gate 9. There is one near gate 16.
Hard to see. Find the coke vending sign. Smoking
area is in there.
