Before Security Smoking

Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminals.

After Security Smoking

A bit like a prison exercise yard, but at least it's still there! Comments and photo below provided by John D. on the 1st November 2017.

Update from Jenny 3rd Oct 2016: Can confirm Shannon airport has a smoking area after security and is down a number of stairs but very easy to find - is a secure fenced area
