Before and After Security Smoking

Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminals.

12th Oct 2019 from Callum: Just an update from the official airport website:  We are due to start the departure lounge extension works. The passenger smoking and vaping area will reopen once these works have been completed. The earliest the development will be able to provide a compliant smoking facility will be Q1 of 2021. We will update passengers when further details are available. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience whilst we make improvements to our airport.

Bad news from Tsvetomira V, May 28th 2019: Birmingham Airport are closing the smoking area from 29th May 2019. There will be no smoking anywhere inside the terminal. And it looks like they are not making a new smoking area... :(

Update from "The Bouncer", 2nd January 2018: The smoking area at BHX still exists next to the bar, but the bar has changed its name to "The Factory".

There is an outdoor smoking facility airside inside the terminal at the The Meriden Bar. This was opened on the 24th of May 2012.

For connecting flights you may need to leave the terminal and enter the UK and smoke outside the terminal then going through Security again for your flight.
